    A Healthier You

    Read

1 Corinthians 6:19, "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies."

    Think

"Am I taking care of my body the way I should?" Imagine that Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon and the richest man in the world, wanted to give you $100 million dollars. There is only one condition: he will give it to you in 20 years if you follow his daily prescription for a healthier you. Would you accept that offer? Of course! Not only would you be living a lifestyle that would make you healthier, stronger and more vibrant; you would also be getting $100 million dollars to do so! What a sweet deal! The above scenario may seem a bit far-fetched, but there is another scenario that is not. In fact, this scenario is based on a guarantee given to us by God himself. When we live our lives according to the Bible and we treat the body he has given to us as his temple, God will give us a reward in Heaven far better than any reward the world's richest man could ever give us. Why does God reward us for honoring our bodies? Because, when we accept Jesus as our Savior, he actually comes and resides inside of us! So, when we honor our bodies, we honor him with a dwelling place worthy of him!

    Act

What is something you have been thinking about regarding your health? Do you need to exercise more? Do you need to cut something out of your diet? Is there an unhealthy habit you want to break such as smoking or excessive drinking? Ask God to help you accomplish your goal by forming a plan to begin addressing it.

    Pray

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for my body. It is a tremendous gift that I do not want to take for granted. Please give me the wisdom and strength to accomplish goals that will help me be  all that you want me to be. In Jesus' name, Amen.
