With Thanksgiving

Read

Philippians 4:6-7, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Think

What is that one thing that takes your Thanksgiving meal to another level? You know the turkey and dressing and is going to be good – but if you add that special sweet potato casserole to the meal your taste buds are going to be in heaven. Maybe it is turkey and dressing with your aunt's homemade rolls, or with that special cranberry sauce, or with your grandma's famous pecan pie. Sometimes the good stuff can become the great stuff with the right thing added. Today is a day we are all encouraged to go through our day with thanksgiving. Isn't it awesome to slow down and consider what we have to be thankful for? There is something wonderful about today, because it is spent with thanksgiving. God has called us to spend time with Him in every situation, but the special element that takes that time to the next level is when we spend that time with thanksgiving. As you bring your requests to God, bring them with thanksgiving for all He has already done, and watch how God can bring peace beyond understanding to your life.

Act

Start a note on your phone or a page in your journal where you make a commitment to add one thing from each day that you are thankful for. If you do this with consistency over time, you will be amazed at how faithful God is and all that you have to be thankful for!

Pray

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the opportunity to spend time with You. Thank You that in every situation, I can talk with You and find peace that is beyond understanding. Please remind me to invite You into every situation in my life with thanksgiving. In Your Son's name I pray, Amen.
