Joshua 12:7-15:19
Joshua 14:7-9, "I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me ... to explore the land. And I brought him back a report according to my convictions, but my fellow Israelites who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt in fear. I, however, followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly. So on that day, Moses swore to me, ‘The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.'"
Caleb was brave. He didn't give in to the naysayers when he was sent with a reconnaissance team to explore the Promised Land forty years prior. He believed that, with God's help, the Israelites could easily take their inherited land. He spoke up and said, "We CAN conquer!"
Unfortunately, because of the people's disbelief, Caleb and Joshua had to spend the next forty years wandering in the wilderness with them. But after the long wait, they were the only two spies who would live to cross over into the Promised Land. Now, it was time to settle, and Caleb reminded Joshua of Moses' words: "He wholeheartedly followed the Lord." He wasn't bragging. He was just stating a fact.
Do you wholeheartedly follow God? When a task or obstacle seems insurmountable, do you believe that God will go before you to conquer whatever difficulty you face? Take a page from Caleb's playbook and believe in God's almighty power. Nothing is too hard for Him; there's nothing He can't do. How great is that!
Lord, You can do anything! I marvel at Your infinite power and wisdom and trust that, if I follow You, everything is possible. Amen.
