1 Corinthians 1:10, "I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought."
Think
If you were to go on social media, you would quickly find tons of people arguing about various topics. And in our culture today, we tend to attack anyone who disagrees with us. But if you think about it, no two people will ever agree on everything. In fact, that would be a little weird - even for those of us who are followers of Jesus!
Instead of focusing on what we disagree on, what if we unite over what we can agree on? That's exactly what the writer, Paul, was talking about in 1 Corinthians. At the time, early followers of Jesus were fighting over the issues of the day, so Paul brought them back to the one thing everyone could agree on - Jesus!
As followers of Jesus, our primary focus, and something we can all agree on, is this: Jesus lived, died, and rose again! He forgives us of our wrongdoings and gives us eternal life with Him in Heaven. He wants everyone to have a personal relationship with Him. Everything after that is minor!
Act
Change the tone of social media by posting something positive. Affirm the people you encounter today, and remember that God loves them.
Pray
God, help me to focus on the common ground I have with others and show me how to use that to point them to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
