Psalm 37:5-6,
"Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun." Ecclesiastes 2:11,
"Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun."
Think
The world seems to move at warp speed these days. It often seems like we're scrambling just to keep up with our ever-changing, over-committed schedules. As Ecclesiastes 2:11 says, it's as though we're chasing after the wind. So, what do our schedules say about us? There are so many things competing for our attention every day. It's challenging to know when to say "No" and when to say "Yes," especially when it comes to the family. Therefore, it's imperative to remember that the family formula for success is prioritizing God, spouse, and kids – in that order. When we commit to this formula as we plan our schedules and say "No" to the good, saying "Yes" to the best becomes much easier. Why? Because when our schedule reflects our commitment to God's priorities, we receive God's best for our family. So, stop "chasing after the wind" and protect your schedule! Consider it as an act of worship. Do this, and you'll be amazed by all that God will do in and through your family as He makes "your righteous reward shine like the dawn!"
Act
Take a look at your schedule for the week. Determine what needs to change to make your priorities God, spouse, kids. A great way to start is by listing non-negotiable times such as church on Sunday, date night, and family time. Then, schedule everything else around these priorities.
Pray
Heavenly Father, Thank You for my family. Help me protect my schedule so that it reflects my commitment to You and Your priorities. I know that everything else will align as I say, "No" to the good and "Yes" to Your best. In Jesus' name, Amen!
