John 8:34-36 “Jesus replied, ‘Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.’”

The Statue of Liberty, standing tall in New York Harbor since its dedication in October, 1886, has become a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. This iconic statue, gifted by the people of France, served as a beacon of hope for countless immigrants as they approached New York City after enduring long and arduous ocean voyages. Lady Liberty, with her illuminated torch, has not only greeted these newcomers, but also guided ships safely into the harbor, offering a lifeline amidst the darkness and storms of the sea.

Similarly, the cross of Jesus Christ holds profound importance across the globe as an instantly recognizable symbol of Christianity. Yet, its true weight goes far beyond mere symbolism. It serves as a real and potent navigational instrument, leading countless individuals out of darkness, selfishness, addiction, and despair, and bringing them into a transformative relationship with their Creator. For those who have personally experienced its profound power, the cross shines like a torch in the darkest of nights, inviting them to find refuge and salvation.

The cross stands as a pivotal point in history, where humanity was truly set free from the shackles of sin and bondage. It represents the ultimate act of sacrifice and redemption, offering hope and liberation to all who embrace its profound message.
