Matthew 13:5-6, "Some fell on the rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root." Matthew 13:20-21, "The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away."

Think

Fads come and go. But very soon, what was hot becomes what is not. This may be okay when it comes to decisions involving fashion or food. It's not okay, however, when it comes to decisions of faith. Great crowds followed Jesus, but only a few were His true disciples. The masses viewed Him with shallow hearts. But that's not just something we read about in the Bible; it's still happening today. Sadly, for many people, trusting Jesus is all about emotions and the desire for it to just "feel" right. But the moment trouble strikes, they fall away from following Christ. Jesus didn't come to play to our emotions. He didn't step down through time and space to make us feel warm and fuzzy. He came to transform our hearts, so that no matter the circumstance or feelings involved, we could stand firm on His truth. Remember, God is not a trend. When we open our hearts fully to Him, we know life will still bring problems and pain. But we trust that no matter what, He will be our strength and support through it all.

Act

Trust is more than just a word; it's an essential action. So when problems in life strike, where do you place your trust? Don't be shallow in your trust in God. Instead, open your heart fully and completely to trust God's word and allow it to take root in your life!

Pray

Dear God, help me to always seek You with my complete heart. When things get tough, help me to trust You fully and experience Your "peace that transcends all understanding" through Christ. Thank You for blessing my life with Your amazing grace! In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
