The Power of Prophecy

Read

Isaiah 53:12,  "And He was numbered with the transgressors, and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."

Think

"Studying prophecy is pointless if it doesn't result in life change." No person in the history of the world has ever had the impact and influence of Jesus Christ. Every word He spoke resonated in the lives of those who heard Him. But it wasn't all by chance. Jesus' arrival was something ordained by God and prophesied about hundreds of years before Jesus ever walked the earth. Old Testament prophets were the vessels of communication to announce His arrival. In today's world, though, one of two things can happen. We can become so skeptical that we dismiss the word "prophecy," or we swing the pendulum the other way and bury our heads in books about it. But prophecy is not something to ignore or indulge in. Rather, its purpose is to point us to the power of God. When we read prophecy, like today's verse, it should point us to Jesus, the Savior who loves us and who has moved time and space to meet us. Pray that the prophecies you read will awaken you to the power of God, and that the prophecies of Christ (of which there are over 300) will remind you of His plan!

Act

Begin to pray for God to awaken your heart to see the power of prophecy in context. Remember the point of prophecy is life change!

Pray

Dear God, I know that the life and death of Jesus were no accident. Every act He performed and every word He spoke were ordained by You. May I see the power of Your hand as I continue to study Jesus' last words. And may they lead to a change in my heart and my mind each day. In Jesus' name, Amen.
