“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16
We live in a dark world that is caught in a downward spiral. Our country is moving farther and farther away from God’s foundations. Our societal standards have continued to fall into decay while mainstream media desensitizes us. The world has turned on God and become reliant on itself. We keep moving away from the light of God’s best for our lives.
God has specifically called us to do what we can to spread the message of hope in Jesus Christ. We should be the example of hope and purpose found in our Savior. As we read and study end times, don’t get so focused on the details. Don’t get caught up on the data that doesn’t matter. Don’t miss the “what” and the “why” and the “who” and what we’re supposed to do. Instead, focus on the One who was, who is, and who is to come. You can be a light that shines! You can bring joy to Jesus! Your life can be a beacon of light in the darkness of this world! Your life can bring glory to God!
Write down the name of three people in your life who need the hope found in Jesus Christ. Over the next several days, intentionally pray for each of those people by name, and ask God to open doors for you to share His message with them!
Father, thank you for the people I have in my life. Help me, Lord, to be the salt and light. Help me at the right time to say a word about You. Give me the courage to invite them and to share the good news about You. Amen!
