I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never go hungry. John 6:35
“The church is the table where people come to get fed.” We’ve heard that and read that, and focused on the table this week. But have you ever considered the meal that is served at the table? It’s not just another creative cuisine cooked by a world-class chef. The meal we experience at the table is the ultimate carbohydrate, the cosmic carbohydrate, the Bread of Life—Jesus Christ. When we come to the table and taste the Bread of Life, we discover the only meal that can literally transform every area of our life and our eternity.
This meal gives us the ability to make the most out of every day. It is the very thing that enables us to push away from the table and be who God wants us to be. This meal gives us the fuel to leave a lasting impact on the world around us. When you think about the table metaphor, remember that it is centered on the ultimate meal. Don’t just learn about the meal. Don’t pull up a chair to the table and just look at the meal. Don’t spend your time listening to others describe the delicious meal. Taste it yourself. Scripture tells us to “Taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8). Allow the ultimate carbohydrate to infiltrate your life and transform you from the inside out!

Thank you, God, for providing the world with the ultimate meal. Help me tap into the cosmic carbohydrate—your Son, Jesus Christ—so that I can become who You created me to be and help others discover the ultimate meal in their lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
