Read

Exodus 3:10, "So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt."

Think

"God's strength is revealed in our weakness." Have you ever been in a situation where you didn't do what you should have, but rather than admitting it, you offered up an excuse? It's been said that excuses are like noses: everyone has one, and they all smell! Well, excuses are nothing new to human nature. The Old Testament book of Exodus records something that happened thousands of years ago: God called Moses to lead the people of Israel out of slavery in Egypt. Immediately, Moses made a laundry list of excuses. He essentially told God, "I can't do that. I'm not strong enough." But God's response was classic! He said, "This is not about you. It's about me. And I AM strong enough." When Moses finally understood that success wasn't dependent on his strength but on God's, he stepped up and followed through. As a result, he was able to lead the entire nation of Israel to freedom. What are you facing in life that seems insurmountable? What has been put before you that you simply can't do on your own? Rather than backing down because of your "weakness," rely on God's strength to see you through. Remember, God's strength is revealed in your weakness!

Act

Write a list of what you perceive as your "weaknesses." Now, mark out each "weakness" and write out the opposite strength next to it. (Example: fear becomes confidence, timid becomes bold, etc.) This is what God can give you so that you can do the seemingly impossible. He wants to use you to make a difference!

Pray

Lord, I know that you have created me for a purpose. But many times, I allow excuses about my weaknesses to keep me from moving forward. Help me to rely on your strength in life rather than looking to myself, so that I can accomplish the things you have in store for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
