Read

Psalm 100:4-5: "Be thankful to him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting."

Think

Imagine two types of friends: one who is quick to express their gratitude for even the smallest act of kindness and one who is constantly asking for more, never appreciative of what they’ve been given. Which kind of friend are you? When you come into the presence of God, do you pull out your laundry list of needs or do you thank him for his goodness and mercy, his faithfulness and his love?

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it's easy to overlook the simple act of thanksgiving. Yet, the psalmist reminds us to approach God, not with demands or complaints, but with a heart filled with gratitude.

God's goodness isn't temporary or conditional; it's a constant and enduring truth. His mercy doesn't have an expiration date; it's everlasting. These truths form the foundation of our relationship with him and are the basis for us praising him in every circumstance.

Consider how the simple act of saying "thank you" can transform your daily interactions. A thankful heart recognizes the goodness in others and in the situations we encounter. How much more should we express gratitude to the Lord, whose goodness and mercy are unending and undeserving?

Whether it's a breathtaking sunrise, a kind word from a friend, or the simple gift of life itself, there are endless reasons to thank God. Our praise acknowledges his goodness and builds a bridge into deeper communion with him.

Apply

Take a moment today to reflect on God's goodness and mercy in your life. Write down three specific things for which you're thankful. Let these guide you into a time of praise and thanksgiving.

Pray

Lord, thank you for your unending goodness and everlasting mercy. Help me to approach you with a thankful heart, recognizing all the ways you bless my life. In Jesus' name. Amen.
