John 13:14-15, "Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you."
Think
"Jesus did not come to be served, but to serve." Jesus flipped the script. Washing someone's feet was not glamorous. Imagine the disciples' feet after walking around all day on dirty, unpaved surfaces in sandals. Jesus knew exactly what He was doing by washing their feet and modeling that a key component of leadership is serving others. He knew that a group of people committed to serving others could have an enormous impact!
Serving others today means looking for needs so you can lend a helping hand. When we put our needs aside to serve others, God can do something great through us.
Today, look for an opportunity to follow Jesus' example. Make a phone call to encourage someone hurting, bring dinner to someone who is having a stressful week, or do a little extra yardwork for a neighbor just to be nice. Serving in these ways puts us in a position to have an impact, like Jesus.
Act
Don't buy into the lie that a large church like Fellowship Church doesn't need any help. It's just the opposite! Fellowship has so many opportunities to serve! Join us this Sunday at our Newcomer's luncheon after any worship experience at any of our locations. You can find out more about the vision and values of Fellowship Church and find the perfect place to serve. Or, explore your serving options through the Connect Now section on the app.
Pray
Dear God, thank You for the example Jesus set. Show me areas where I need to jump in and serve. I want to be more like Jesus, so reveal areas where I can serve and make a powerful difference in others' lives! In Jesus' name. Amen.
