Mark 4:39, "He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, 'Quiet! Be still!' Then the wind died down and it was completely calm."
Think
When was your last time on a lake or near the ocean? The water can be peacefully calm, a little choppy, or so violent that you can't get back to shore fast enough!
In the verse above, Jesus and His disciples were on a boat crossing the sea after a long day. While Jesus rested, a huge windstorm arose, causing the boat to take on water. The disciples feared for their lives and, in a panic, woke Jesus up. He brought calm to the chaos in three words by saying, "Quiet! Be still!"
The storms we face in life are often unexpected and unsolicited, and our ability to navigate and overcome them is more about what we can't see than what we can see. No matter how high the waves or dark the skies are, Jesus is in the storm with you. Have FAITH in His ability to calm YOU as you place your complete trust in Him. And even when He allows the storm to linger, resist the flood of fear and anxiety. Instead, choose the courage and peace Jesus offers. If He can calm the wind and the waves, imagine what He can do for you!
Act
Remembering God's faithfulness is a powerful tool in navigating a storm. Take a few moments and list the ways God has been faithful to you. Let this list remind you who He is and what He can do in your life.
Pray
Dear God, I know that storms will come into my life. Thank You for Your power that is available to not just survive the storms, but to thrive in them. Give me the faith to trust You in any situation. In Jesus' name, Amen.
