Revelation 1:3, “Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.”
“We aren’t fighting for victory, we are fighting from victory!” Media today has catapulted our culture into a fascination with seeing behind-the-scenes and celebrating big reveals. Right now, you could turn on your TV and catch an episode of a home improvement show, revealing a space that was taken from simple to spectacular. Or, you could jump on social media and join in on the celebration of a baby’s gender reveal. We seem to be mesmerized by big reveals and captivated by what could be. The Book of Revelation is a big reveal, too, as it is Jesus revealing to us how the story ends. (Spoiler alert: We win!) It’s no wonder this book has been the subject of intense study, as it uncovers behind-the-scenes information about the re-creation of the world – the new Heaven and new Earth in descriptive detail. Today’s scripture reminds us that if we simply read it and take to heart what is written, we will be blessed. The purpose of this book is to point us to the ultimate victory achieved by Christ, and to remind us that in the end, if we have surrendered our lives to Jesus, we win!
Get in on the big reveal and start reading the book of Revelation. Be expectant for all that God wants to show you as you study this book, and be encouraged that because of what Jesus did; the victory has already been won!
Thank you for Scripture, Lord, and for letting me in on the reveal! I pray that you would help me to remember that my victory comes from you, and because of that I can look forward to what is to come. Amen
