Psalm 103:13, “He is like a father to us, tender and sympathetic...”
Think
“I can’t change.” Those three words are difficult for many people to admit because we live in a world where we are told we can be anything we want to be, and we can do anything we want to do. The truth is, when it comes to the most significant change we could ever experience—the change from living in our dysfunction to discovering God’s function for us—we are powerless to do anything about it.
The good news is that God can change us…and He wants to! When we finally admit that God has the power to do what we are powerless to do, we find ourselves on the path to overcoming our past problems. Are you still living with the repercussions of your past? Are you trying to deal with it all on your own? Give up the fruitless effort of changing it all yourself. Instead, turn your life over to God. Allow Him to deal with your past and give you a promising future!
Act
Wanting to change and actually experiencing change are not the same thing. Don’t just stop with “wanting” God to change you. Take steps to turn over everything to Him. One of those steps is spending time with Him. Make time with Him a priority, not just today, but every day moving forward.
Pray
Dear God, I admit to You that I am powerless to do anything about the baggage I carry in my life from the past. Right now, I ask You to take that baggage from me. I know You have a future for me, and I look forward to living it out as I rely on You! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
