Not My Battle

Read:

2 Chronicles 20:12,17 “Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you. You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.”

Think:

Have you found yourself at that weary juncture, where the fight seems too arduous, and the thought of surrender creeps in? Perhaps you've contemplated ending the marriage counseling, releasing the prodigal child, or resigning from the stagnant job. The weight of fatigue obscures any glimpse of progress. Here's a beacon of hope for weary Christ-followers: Jesus intervenes amidst our exhaustion when we cry out to him, even in the throes of battle. Look at the story of King Jehoshaphat, pursued by his enemies while his people, drained and bewildered, followed his call to call out to God and press on with faith. Their faithful obedience bore fruit as God intervened, delivering the enemy into their hands through miraculous means. In the midst of the unique ways God intervenes in our battles, his unwavering goodness persists. Expect to encounter God on the battlefield, as his strength replenishes our weariness. Remarkably, he steps into our areas of weakness, supplying the power required for triumph.

Apply:

Call on him in your weaknesses when you feel like giving up. God will go before you.

Pray:

Jesus, I give my disappointments to you and my weariness I place in your hands. Give me strength and wisdom. Give me power to overcome. In Jesus' name. Amen.
