Read

Philippians 4:11, "I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances."

Think

What a model of contentment we see in today's scripture. Paul penned this passage locked in a Roman prison, chained to a guard. Bondage and persecution were his only companions, yet Paul was writing a thank you note to the Philippians. Why? Because they had collectively sent him a care package and financial support since this prison wasn't too keen on providing for its prisoners. Meals and clothing were not on the daily agenda and these bare essentials for the inmates had to come from the outside. When facing challenges like Paul, check out his model behavior as he looks for the silver lining among the clouds. After all, the entire book of Philippians centers around the theme of joy as you'll find the word "rejoice" grinning at you eleven times. In spite of dire circumstances, Paul demonstrated the perfect attitude adjustment. Resentment morphed into contentment as he did an about-face and flipped his feelings from sadness to gladness. Rejoice and follow in the footsteps of Paul's beautiful Behavioral Blueprint!

Act

If you are facing a challenge right now, commit to learning the lesson that Paul lays before you in today's passage. Follow his behavioral blueprint and ask God to help you flip your feelings. Look for the silver lining behind the clouds and lean into gratefulness. If you do, you will not only follow the example of the faithful writer of most of the New Testament, you will be in the center of God's desire for you to have joy through it all.

Pray

Dear Lord, I want to let you know that I appreciate you so much. I am forever in debt for the many lessons I learn in these daily devotionals. They keep me following the path you want me to follow because I know you always have my well-being in mind. Thank you for loving me enough to help me through all difficulties. I pray this in Jesus name, Amen.
