John 14:6 “Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'”

Think:

Have you ever encountered a plumb line? This simple tool, consisting of a weighted line, unveils deviations from anything that is supposed to be straight. In much the same way, Philippians 4:8 serves as a "plumb line" for our minds, preventing the drift and distortion of our thoughts. Paul extends to us a guiding boundary, urging us to fixate our thoughts on truth itself, the cornerstone of our faith, Jesus. Truth, beyond mere facts, finds its embodiment in Jesus. He is the very essence of the truth. In embracing this truth, we reveal victory and freedom, countering the deceit propagated by the "father of lies," Satan himself (John 8:44).

Much like bank tellers immersed in real bills so they can discern counterfeits, we ought to steep ourselves in the truth, his Word, to expose the counterfeit narratives of the enemy. Don't squander precious time allowing falsehood to grip your life. Anything that strays from the Bible and truth is merely a counterfeit, and the enemy's attempt to deceive is rooted in these false narratives. Let this truth be our plumb line, ensuring that our thoughts remain steadfast and aligned with the unfaltering reality of Christ.

Apply:

Paul says to keep our minds focused on the truth. But do you know the truth? Have you met Jesus? Do you have a personal relationship with the real deal? If not, you can accept the gift of salvation today. If you do, saturate yourself with his Word so you can tell what is real and what is false.

Pray:

Holy Spirit, guide me toward your truth. Expose all the lies and deceptions that may have taken a foothold in my mind. Help me to soak in the Word so I know truth and can discern truth easily. In Jesus' name. Amen.
