Read
2 Chronicles 24:13, “So the workmen labored, and the repair work progressed in their hands, and they restored the house of God according to its specifications and strengthened it.”
Think
God’s most powerful action of all was sending His only Son to die on the cross for our sins and rise again. God set the ultimate standard by giving us His best. So, out of trust and appreciation, we should give back our best to Him. One of the ways we can do that is by making His house a priority by giving of our time, talent and treasure.
In this text, Joash, the king of Judah, did what was right in the sight of the Lord. Why? Because Joash had a heart for God and God’s house. He didn’t just give lip service, he backed it up with action. He saw that the temple needed restoration, so he led the way to bring it to fruition. Every “workman” did his part with passion and purpose to restore God’s house with an eye toward excellence.
The church is made up of people from all walks of life working together to build, restore and strengthen the house. What we do matters! Therefore, the time you put into serving and your commitment to giving matters because it shows your heart for God, His house, and His people.

Pray
God, thank You for being a God of excellence. Guide my heart and show me that it doesn’t matter who I please as long as I please You. As I serve in the house, use me to do what is right in Your sight. Amen.
