Look Back

Read

Revelation 2:5, “Think about where you have fallen from, and then turn back and do as you did at first.”

Think

There are moments in life that we can’t help but capture. Whether it is through pictures, videos, letters, or even just vivid memories, we love to look back! God wants us to be encouraged by taking time to remember all that He has done in our past because He knows how easily we can forget how far we’ve come since meeting Him. While the Israelites were in the wilderness for 40 years, they failed to look back and remember all God did to bring them out of slavery. They started to complain, doubt God, and act ungrateful for everything He was providing them. We can easily fall into this same trap of thinking God has forgotten about us or isn’t working in our lives. God created us to be in a relationship with Him, and He promises to never leave or forsake us. Therefore, we can be confident that He is the same God yesterday, today, and forever. How great is that! So look back and praise God for all He’s done and look forward with anticipation to all that He’s going to do in and through your life.

Act

Take a moment now to look back on your life and write down three moments in your past when God majorly impacted your life. Then, write down three things that you anticipate doing in the future to strengthen your relationship with Him.

Pray

Dear God, Right now, I thank You for all that You have done in my life. Help me to always remember to look back at the past with a grateful heart to strengthen my confidence in You as I look forward to the future. I know You’ll continue to do unforgettable things in and through my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
