Like Jesus

Read

Matthew 1:23, "The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel (which means ‘God with us')."

Hebrews 2:17-18, "For this reason, He had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that He might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted."

Think

We've all found ourselves in certain situations and thought, "No one else understands what I'm going through!" It's natural for us to look at our own circumstances and jump to the conclusion that no one has ever faced what we're facing. But then we read today's verses.

The moment Jesus burst onto the scene of humanity, everything changed! God's only Son gave up His position in heaven for life on earth. Fully God and fully man, He intimately and intricately experienced the full human existence. And because of that, He understands. He's felt every emotion. He experienced loss. He was tempted in every way. He was betrayed. He, too, grieved the death of a loved one. So, no matter what you're facing - even if you feel isolated and alone, or like no one else could possibly identify with your situation - you can simply add two words: "like Jesus."

"No one understands ... like Jesus!"

What does that mean for you today? Because there's nothing - absolutely nothing - that you'll ever have to face on your own. Jesus' name at birth was Immanuel, meaning "God with us." Christ is with you. Right here. Right now.

Have courage today, knowing that no matter what you are facing, you are not alone. And remember, you are loved, cherished, and in God's thoughts every second of every day!

Act

On an index card or Post-It note, write the phrase "I am not alone!" along with today's verses. Place it on your mirror to remind you each morning that no matter what the day brings, you do not have to face it alone!

Pray

Lord Jesus, Thank You for Your constant presence. I find peace in knowing that You understand every facet of my life. When I feel alone, remind me that I am not. I love You! Amen.
