John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that he gave..."
Think
"Generosity is at the very heart of who God is." We've all heard today's verse before. It's the most quoted and repeated verse in the Bible. We see it on billboards on the highway and homemade posters at NFL games. But there's something about this verse that we often fail to realize. God gave. In other words, God is generous! Generosity is something we tend to think of solely in terms of money. We think if we just give some money to someone or something, then we're being generous. And yes, that is a level of generosity. But generosity is so much more. It is a lifestyle that leads to a legacy! You don't have to be wealthy to be generous. Some of the most generous people in the world are those who have the least amount of stuff. When it comes to generosity, it's all about understanding the simple yet profound fact that God is the owner and we are the managers. Because when we understand that everything comes from him, then we will develop an attitude of gratitude that will lead to a life of generosity!
Act
Develop the attitude of gratitude so you can live a life of generosity. Begin each morning by simply making a list of things you are grateful for. Then, look for ways to use those things to help others. Because that is what generosity is all about!
Pray
God, I know that you are the provider of everything in my life. Help me gain the right perspective and live a life of generosity so that I can experience the blessing of being used by you. Amen.
