Psalm 98:6 Shout for joy before the Lord, the King.
Luke 1:14 He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth…
You may be surprised to know that “Joy to the World” was not meant to be a Christmas song. There’s no mention of shepherds, angels or wise men. Instead, the lyrics, written by Isaac Watts in 1719, are about Christ’s return.
“Joy to the world, the Lord is come! Let earth receive her King!”
Absolutely, Christmas is a time for us to celebrate the birth of Jesus! But the greatest gift was not only His life, it was His death, burial, and resurrection – and the salvation offered as a result! That’s what “Joy to the World” means. Joy is a person. True Joy is Jesus.
God made it possible for you to be saved by sending His Son. Today, you can accept His free gift of salvation. Simply admit that you are a sinner in need of a Savior and ask Him to rescue you!
Thank You, Jesus, for coming to save my soul. Amen.
