Jeremiah 49:1-33, 22:24-23:32
2 Kings 24:5-9
2 Chronicles 36:6-9
Jeremiah 23:23, “’Am I a God who is only close at hand?’ says the Lord. ‘No, I am far away at the same time. Can anyone hide from Me in a secret place? Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?’ says the Lord.”
Life is busy. With a million things vying for our attention, we look at our overpacked schedules and think, “How can I be in more than one place at a time?” Obviously, we can’t. Even with the most advanced technology, we’ll always be limited by time and space. God, though, isn’t. He’s omnipresent, meaning He’s everywhere at every time.
God’s greatest gift to us is His constant presence. As Christ-followers, it’s comforting to know that He’s always by our side in the good times and the bad. Yet, this thought can be a little scary because there is no such thing as a private conversation, secret meeting, or closed-door operation – God is always watching. But as our awareness of His presence increases, the more we live with a healthy fear of God. We think twice before giving in to temptation, knowing our sins are not a secret.
God’s Word promises He will never leave or abandon us, that He is our “ever-present help in times of trouble.” So, no matter what you’re going through, even when you don’t feel His presence, God is with you, God is for you, and God is in you through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. How great is that!
Dear Lord, I find great comfort and peace in knowing that You are always with me. Thank You for never leaving me to navigate life on my own. Remind me of this when I feel the pull of temptation and help me live a life of integrity that pleases You and displays Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
