Read

Romans 8:28, "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."

Think

"All that happens to us may not be good, but God can bring good from all that happens to us." Have you ever wondered: "How can something good come from a bad situation?" We all experience things in this world that are not good. We live in a broken world where we experience pain, disease, and even death. However, the Bible tells us that God can, and will, use all things for good. This verse gives those of us who are followers of Jesus an incredible promise, with a condition. The second part of this verse says, "for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." When we choose to follow Jesus by obeying what the Bible tells us to do, then we can trust that God will bring good from the bad. We may never fully understand why bad things happen to good people, but we can be assured that no suffering is wasted. God is always at work for our good. When you can't comprehend why trials come and when you struggle to imagine that anything good can come from the situation you are in, share your pain with him. Talk to God about what you are experiencing. Allow him to comfort you and remind you that he is in control!

Act

Write this verse down on a piece of paper or sticky note and put it in a place where you can see it every day. When you see it, read it out loud to remind yourself of God's promise to you and your commitment to him.

Pray

God, thank you for your promise to bring good from the bad. Help me to live a life that is obedient to you and your word, and to remember this verse when I am facing a difficult situation. Amen.
