Gatekeeper

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

In the realm of journalism, the term "gatekeeper" signifies the roles of reporters, editors, and publishers who sift through news items, determining the newsworthy stories. Seasoned news professionals warn that the internet's vastness permits unchecked information to bypass the gate. This parallel resonates with ancient times when gatekeepers protected temples, ensuring that only the pure entered. However, history shows that neglect led to the decline of these sacred spaces. Without the gatekeepers’ diligent protection, the temple became vulnerable and corrupted.In our spiritual journey, Paul likens our bodies to God's temple (1 Corinthians 3:16-17). Vulnerabilities in our spiritual lives, like envy or division, can expose us to harm (1 Corinthians 3:3). It's paramount that we guard against these intrusions, refusing footholds and quelling the devil's advances (Ephesians 4:27). The criteria for what may enter is found in Philippians 4:8, whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. The resulting peace will guard the gate of our hearts and minds.

Heavenly Father, may I make a conscious effort to dwell on things that are worthy, things that point my eyes to you. Help me to pursue purity and righteousness. Enable me to focus on what is praiseworthy and true. In Jesus' name. Amen.
