Read

Revelation 2:4-5, "But I have this complaint against you. You don't love me or each other as you did at first! Look how far you have fallen! Turn back to me and do the works you did at first. If you don't repent, I will come and remove your lampstand from its place among the churches."

Think

THINK "Keep the flames of passion white hot." Have you noticed that the passion in relationships can fade over time? When we first start dating someone, we spend hours in conversations and every moment with them on our mind. But, as time passes the conversations can get shorter and thoughts can become less frequent. It's not that we don't care about them anymore, it's just that it doesn't come as easy as it did in the beginning. The same can be true in our relationship with God. When that relationship is new, it's easier to be passionate. But over time, that passion can fade. The good news is passion is something that can be fanned into flame! Here are some things you can do to stir up a passion for God:
  • Regularly attend church
  • Find a place to serve in the church
  • Invite others to attend church with you
  • Invest your resources in the church
  • Spend time with people who are passionate about God
A passionate relationship with God is worth working for!

Act

Today, take a moment and really take an honest, personal inventory of your life. Are you doing the things that build a passionate relationship with God?

Pray

God, thank you for your passion for me. Please help me have a consistent passion for you, too. In Jesus' name, Amen.
