Read: Luke 19:10; John 20:21
There was a grocer in England who banned customers from his shop if they used crude language, smoked, brought in baby strollers, or shopped with their pets. Finally, he banned the customers themselves. Shoppers had to look through the window to spot items and purchased through a small hatch in the door. The grocer admitted he had lost a lot of business. It appears the grocer had lost sight of his purpose; if he wanted to sell groceries, then he needed to put up with some issues to achieve that goal.
Jesus had one goal, one purpose — “to seek and save those who were lost.” He met with prostitutes, tax collectors, fishermen, arrogant Pharisees, and those with diseases. Jesus took the initiative to go after people. As we model our life after His, we are reminded that everyone matters. Jesus pursued us so we can join the pursuit of others.
Application: We have been given a great commission. Who are you seeking to share the good news of Jesus with today?
Pray: Jesus, help me seek others the way You looked for me. Amen.
