Acts 9:17-18, “Placing his hands on Saul, he said, ‘Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.’ Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized …”
Think
There is a man in the Bible who was very familiar with labels in his life. But they were the wrong labels, as he found out. He grew up under their definitions and lived his life passionately pursuing what those labels said. That man’s name was Saul. And for the first part of his life, the labels in his life sent him down a path of persecuting Christians and doing all he could to damage the Church. However, God had bigger things in store for Saul, so he relabeled Saul’s life, changed his name to Paul, and began using him in mighty ways. Through a miraculous encounter, Paul (who had been Saul) realized the error of living under the wrong labels. He changed his life completely and began pursuing a new purpose and a new plan—God’s plan.
Maybe you have been living your entire life based on the definitions of some inaccurate labels. Isn’t it time, like Paul, to turn from those and instead turn to the God who has greater things in store for you? Don’t continue to believe the false labels. Instead, realize who you are in God’s eyes and discover what He wants you to do!
Act
Read the entire account of Saul’s conversion in Acts 9. Write down what you can relate to and pray for God to continue transforming your life each day as He relabels your life.
Pray
God, help me to discover the false labels I have been living under throughout my life. I ask that You replace those labels and instead show me the labels You want me to experience and understand. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
