Does God Exist?

Read

Romans 1:19-20, "They know the truth about God because He has made it obvious to them. For, ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see His invisible qualities-His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God."

Psalms 19:1-2, "The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display His craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make Him known."

Think

Does God exist? We've never seen God or audibly heard His voice. So, how can we really know for sure? Maybe your response is, "Well, I just know because I have faith, and the Bible tells me God exists." Great! But what do you say to someone who denies having faith and believes that Christianity is nothing more than a crutch for weak people?

In today's reading, Paul gives us a bold answer to these questions. God's invisible qualities have been made known to us since the beginning, so we have no excuse for denying His existence. Creation shouts a Creator with infinite power. That's why God welcomes us to take a long look at the earth and sky, to take in His handiwork.

It's no secret that all of creation has a highly complex design. This fact is well-established among physicists and scientists. From the galaxies and stars down to the atoms and subatomic particles, the very structure of our universe is fine-tuned. For example, the force of gravity is determined by the gravitational constant. If varied by even the slightest of margins, life - as we know it - would cease to exist. This constant isn't happenstance; it's the result of a designer, and that designer is God!

Act

Set a reminder on your phone to go outside tonight and look up at the sky. Take a moment to reflect on all that you see. As you stare at the heavens above, ask yourself this question: "Could what I see happen by chance?"

Pray

Dear God, I find proof of Your existence everywhere I look. I see Your power, Your amazing craftsmanship, the unique touch of Your design. I want to know more about You. Please show me! Amen.
