Cooking competitions are fascinating examples of creativity. Contestants are given specific themes and items and told to create a sumptuous dish in a limited amount of time. It's as though they can look at the seemingly random array of ingredients before them and immediately see the end product. Each ingenious contestant's final creation leaves us wondering, "How did they do that?" They bring order to chaos. With every turn, we see the work of God's creative genius as He also brings order to chaos. We see it in nature, but we also see it in each of us as well! It appears in a variety of ways: in the arts, problem-solving, organization, teaching, gardening, and so much more. We experience supernatural freedom as the Holy Spirit empowers us to leverage our God-given gifts. You see, God invented creativity. In Genesis 1:2, before Creation, God's Spirit hovered over the vast darkness and He brought order. He could have created everything at once, but He chose to employ systematic order ending with the crown of His creation - us! And God wants us to apply order to what we create, to whatever we do. God designed you with specific gifts and talents. You are a uniquely crafted masterpiece! Allow the freedom of His Spirit to work in you as you use what He's given you to bring the ingredients of chaos before you into order. You have greatness in you - you've got it, now use it!

This period of quarantine is the perfect time to put your creativity to use. What do you want to create? What can you make with the unused items in your pantry? How can you use the extra paint in your garage? Maybe you could write that story that's been ruminating in your head. See where the Spirit leads and watch as chaos comes into order!
Pray
Heavenly Father, Thank You for gifting me with unique skills and talents. I admit there are times when I fail to use it. Awaken in me the ability to see what could be, through Your eyes. Let my creative gifts be used for Your glory. In Jesus' name, Amen!
