Read

Proverbs 31:25-29, "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.'"

Think

We all know at least one woman who seems to have it all together. She always looks her best - and you seem to always run into her when you look your worst. She's someone you can't picture mad or in a bad mood. You may wonder, "Do her feathers ever get ruffled? Does she ever hide out for a few minutes to collect herself when life is pulling her in every direction?" Most likely, yes!

The Proverbs 31 mom is that woman. She's strong and dignified. She can laugh in her later years because she's lived a godly life without regrets. She gives great advice and seems to always know exactly what to say. She is attentive to what's happening in her home and doesn't give in to laziness. Her kids and husband appreciate all she does for them! Although women (and men, too) should strive to be like her, it's a daunting task. How can we possibly measure up?

The truth is this: We don't have to! Our goal is to be more like Christ - not to become someone else. Of course, we should take cues from admirable people, but no one is perfect. So, ladies, YOU be YOU. We all have various challenges and behind-the-scenes issues or problems. God didn't create us to compare ourselves with others; His desire is for us to love and obey Him above all else. The more we seek to model His character, the more we will be exactly who He created us to be!

Act

Make a list of what you consider your five best qualities and note how you've seen God work through each of them. Keep the list and pull it out as needed to remind yourself of just how great you truly are!

Pray

Dear Lord, I know it's unfair when I compare myself with others. I want to be who You created me to be - nothing more and nothing less. Thank You for the great attributes you have given me. Help me to be more and more like Christ. Amen.
