You Are Rich!

Read

1 Timothy 6:17, "Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment."

Think

"Be content with your contents!" There used to be a TV show titled Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous that gave viewers a glimpse into the extravagant lives of various celebrities. The host always concluded with this toast to his audience: "Champagne Wishes and Caviar Dreams!" What was he actually saying? "Have fun dreaming about all the things you'll probably never have!" What is wealth, really? Riches are relative and, according to world standards, we are all wealthy! A byproduct of wealth can be arrogance – ballooning pride because of what we have and what we can do with it. But arrogant decisions lead to an ignorant vision. Our arrogance is evidence that we take credit for our wealth instead of remembering the true source of all we have. Conversely, if we place our hope in God, the rewards are eternal and far greater than anything money can buy. It's God's desire for us to share generously. So, admit it! You're rich. The question is, what are you doing with your wealth?

Act

Hope placed in physical wealth leads to spiritual bankruptcy, but generosity always produces unending joy. Take a moment today to look at your finances and pray for God's guidance as you calculate your commitment to his house through the InTense Giving Campaign over the next three years.

Pray

Lord, thank you for your constant provision and lovingkindness. Open the eyes of my heart to see beyond my own arrogance and pride as I look forward to the future expansion of your house. In Jesus' name, Amen.
