White-Out

Read

Isaiah 1:18, "Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool."

2 Corinthians 5:21, "For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ."

Think

What a wonder to awaken early and marvel at the beauty of freshly fallen snow. Everything looks so clean, so beautiful and pure. Your neighborhood is transformed into a perfect picture book scene. The white snow offers a stark contrast to the once grey roads and littered pavement. This is a visual of Isaiah 1:18.

The contrast of God's forgiveness against the "grayness" of our sin is also stark. Aware of our own guilt and the depth of our sin, we can find forgiveness hard to accept. Yet God, Himself, through the death and resurrection of Jesus for those who believe in Him, renders our sins as white as snow.

Do you find it hard to accept God's forgiveness, especially when you fall back into the same old pattern of sin? Do you hold on to regret, guilt, and shame because you believe you're not worthy of His forgiveness? Stop stiff-arming God's amazing gift of forgiveness. Take this moment to look out the window of your heart and see God's white-out. You are forgiven - past, present, and future - by a God who deeply loves you!

Act

Make a list of any sins in your life that you believe God can't forgive. Now re-read today's scripture verses and receive God's forgiveness.

Pray

Lord Jesus, You died so that I could be forgiven of all my sins. I let go of my regrets and receive Your forgiveness. I believe You when You say that although "my sins be as scarlet, You have made them white as snow." I am forgiven and made righteous in Jesus Christ. Amen.
