When Good Isn't Good Enough

Read

Revelation 6:15,17, "Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand it?"

Think

"God doesn't send people to hell." Have you ever had someone ask you the question, "Why would a loving God send people to hell?" Did you know that hell was not created for people, but for the devil and his demons? The beauty of God's design for humanity is that he gives us a choice whether or not we will love and follow him. He did not create us to be like robots but gives us the free will to choose. God doesn't send people to hell. They choose it for themselves. The Bible teaches that one day there will be a great judgment on the earth. In this passage of Scripture above, those who are unbelievers during this judgment call on the mountains and the rocks to fall on them in order to escape the terrible wrath of God. We will all face judgment someday. And it won't matter what our status was or how much good we did. Good can never be good enough in comparison to God's perfection. God will just want to know if we accepted His Son, Jesus, and received God's gift of forgiveness. Because good isn't good enough, but God is God enough! What do you choose?

Act

Pray for three people in your life who have not yet made the choice to follow Jesus. Ask God to open their eyes and work in their circumstances so they can come to know him. And, if you haven't made this decision, you can choose Jesus today!

Pray

God, I know that you loved me enough to give me the choice of whether or not to love you. Thank you for sending Jesus to show me your love. Help me to daily choose to love and serve you. In Jesus' name, Amen.
