What's Your Name?

Read

Philippians 2:9-11, Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Think

Names are powerful. They mean something and describe who we are! They determine rank; if you are in the armed forces, describe professions or levels of achievement like a judge or doctor. Names label status; like Mr. or Mrs. They carry a legacy; many families have names that are passed on from generation to generation. Jesus was given a name that is above every name. One day, at the mention of that name, every knee will bow before Christ. It is not a matter of if – but of when. Even those who died rejecting Jesus will bow right before they spend eternity apart from Him. On this side of heaven, when we acknowledge that Jesus is Lord and His name is above all, we glorify God! Once we confess Jesus as Lord, we get a host of new names! We shouldn't listen to what others label us as, or what the enemy whispers to us. We should listen to God. He says we are daughters, sons, righteous, holy, valuable, worthy, powerful, mighty, strong, able, and so much more in the name of Jesus!

Act

Find a piece of paper or in your journal and write this out: I have new names because God calls me... Forgiven, Holy, Valuable, Worthy, Powerful, Mighty, Son / Daughter, Jesus' friend, Complete, Work of Art, Citizen of Heaven, God's Messenger, Adopted, Greatly Loved.

Pray

Jesus, you are above all and worthy of all praise. I find it amazing that you can be so magnificent yet know everyone by name, thank you for knowing me and for loving me. Help me walk in who you say I am every single day!
