Read

Isaiah 30:21, "Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it."

Think

Wouldn't it be great to have a guide who whispered in your ear when you were about to take a wrong turn? Today's powerful passage tells us that God speaks to us by giving us directions when we get off his path. This isn't talking about an audible voice, but it refers to God's communication with us in our hearts and in our spirit when we are detouring off the righteous path he wants us to stay on. Many of us would like to have voice lessons to help us learn to clearly recognize his whisper! How can we learn to hear his voice? The best way to begin to discern his voice is to become familiar with the truth he has already spoken in Scripture. He will speak to us through the Bible, through the wise counsel of others who follow him and through the wise teaching of those who lead us in his church. Be glad to know that, as a Christ-Follower, you can have that constant guiding light to keep you traveling on the road that leads to a glorious ending rather than the road that leads to destruction. Take comfort in the fact that God cares enough to constantly give us voice lessons so we will become more and more attuned to his voice. He is a God who desires to communicate with us on a daily basis. Knowing that, walk in confidence as you follow his voice!

Act

Think back on a time when you know God communicated with you to tell you that you were walking down the wrong path. Recall how it initially made you feel. Whether or not you chose to listen to his voice at that moment, thank him for communicating that divine guidance to you. Ask him to continue to direct you away from the tough consequences that come from not following him.

Pray

God, I am so glad that you are a God who is intimately involved in the daily affairs of my life. Forgive me when I detour off of your path. But, thank you for consistently communicating to me when I need to alter what I'm doing. I know you care and want what is best for me and I'm forever grateful! Amen.
