Read

Luke 1:38, "‘I am the Lord's servant,' Mary answered. ‘May your word to me be fulfilled.'"

Think

"Trust is a must!" Have you ever doubted GPS directions? Maybe it was giving you directions that you weren't expecting, and you were unsure what was best. You momentarily struggled with whether to trust what was given to you or not. In that moment of doubt, how did you respond? Mary was in a major moment of doubt. In fact, she was having a big bout with doubt because she was being told to go in a direction she definitely was not expecting. She had to question if that direction was best. Could she completely trust this unexpected news? How would she respond? Trust isn't easy. When God tells us to take a route we're not expecting, it's normal to have doubts. But just because we doubt, doesn't mean we can't respond with trust. In those Mary-type moments of God's unexpected directions, we have the option to overcome our doubts by trusting God – leading to his best for our lives.

Act

How do you respond when God asks for the unexpected? Don't run from God in that moment. Admit your doubt to God and tell him your desire to experience his best. Ask for God's help to respond like Mary – committing to God's plan regardless of your expectations.

Pray

God, I thank you that you are bigger than my expectations. In those moments when you ask for something unexpected, please give me the strength to trust in you and experience your best.
