Time to Resign

Read

Matthew 6:25, "Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?"

Think

Wouldn't it be great if life was a piece of cake, if everything just worked out and there were no issues? But we know that's not the case. Whether or not we have a relationship with Christ, life comes with problems and pressures. But there's one glaring difference between those who have put their faith in Christ and those who have not. Those who are followers of Christ know there is a way to get rid of stress and worry! If we have a relationship with Christ, we understand that God is God and we are not. And because He is God, we trust that He has everything in His hands. So when the pressure of life rears its ugly head, we know we don't have to cower to it. Instead, we can turn to God and trust Him through it all. As you think about your life, what stresses you out? Whatever it is, could it be stressing you out because you are trying to maintain control and play God in that area of your life? Or have you given it up to the One who can truly handle it?

Act

If we are honest with ourselves, we would admit that we all try to play God at times. Right now, take a moment to audibly resign from that position! Say this out loud as a prayer to God: "God, I admit that I have tried to fill Your position in my own life. Right now, I resign from that role and commit to following You as the Lord of everything!"

Pray

Dear God, right now I admit to you that I have stress and worry in my life. Help me to see past that stress to Your plan. I know You can handle it all. So I come to you with humility and hand over my stress to you as I commit to trusting in all You have in store for my life! In Jesus' name, Amen.
