Psalm 145:16,
"You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing."
Think
"There is much to the touch!" What's the one thing you want most out of life? You may say, "I want to make a decent living." Your answer may be, "I want to be happy and healthy." For those who are not morning people, the answer might be, "I want a big cup of coffee!" Those things are all fine. But what we really want, ultimately, is for our lives to matter. Plato famously said,
"At the touch
of love, everyone becomes a poet." In other words, when we experience the touch of love, we discover a purpose and a passion that we had not known before. It is then that we realize how much our lives truly matter. The key is that we are touched by love! The Bible tells us that God is love. And throughout Scripture we discover that he touches our lives and unlocks our ability to make a difference. When God touches us, he changes everything. Through the person of Jesus Christ, God has extended his nail-pierced hands and reaches out to you. Won't you allow him to touch your life today?
Act
Skim through the gospel of Matthew and see if you can see how many times Jesus extended his hand to touch the lives of those around him.
Pray
God, I know that you have a purpose and a plan for me. I also know that you have extended your hand of love to me to help me discover that purpose. Thank you for loving me enough to care for me! Amen.
