Mark 2:17, "Jesus said to them, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.'"
Healthy people don't just choose to go to the hospital. No one wakes up and says, "Maybe I'll have major surgery today!" People don't sit in doctor's offices for entertainment. We only seek medical attention when we realize we are sick.
The Bible tells us that, in fact, we're all sick with a fatal illness and need to have a "sin-ectomy." This procedure can only be performed by the Supernatural Surgeon, Jesus Christ. He alone has the cure - forgiveness!
In today's reading, the Pharisees were questioning Jesus' associations. He was eating dinner with tax collectors and sinners. They were appalled! But Jesus said, "I've not come to call the righteous, but sinners." Unfortunately, the Pharisees didn't understand that they, too, were sick; they, too, were sinners in need of a Savior!
Regardless of how "good" we think we are, of how many kind acts we've performed, of how many times we've been to church and prayed, we are still sick unless we've asked the Savior for forgiveness and declared Him the Lord of our lives. Have you chosen the Supernatural Surgeon? Has He performed open-heart surgery to eradicate fear, guilt, and shame from your life? Because there's absolutely no greater decision you can ever make!

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your healing power through Jesus Christ. Right now, I welcome Your forgiveness and ask that You give me opportunities to build relationships with others who need Your healing, too. In Jesus' name, Amen.
