Psalm 18: 16-19,
"He reached down from heaven and rescued me; he drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemies, from those who hated me and were too strong for me. They attacked me at a moment when I was in distress, but the Lord supported me. He led me to a place of safety; he rescued me..."
Think
Have you ever felt defenseless? As if you're stuck in a box 10 feet underground trapped; surrounded on all sides with no way out. Maybe you felt this way as a child. Maybe you're currently stuck in a toxic relationship. Or, maybe you're buried in an avalanche of painful past regrets. Sometimes we resurface, only to find ourselves stuck in old ways of living. On our own, we can only ache and yearn to make it out. But with Jesus, we have hope. He is the only one powerful enough to set us free. No matter what you're going through or what situation you're in, nothing is too messy or complex for Jesus. He is saying to us, "I will fight for you. I will be your shelter. I will be your armor. I hear your SOS." The choice is ours. He is extending His hand out to you right now. Will you take it?
Act
Radical rescues happen in the deep. This week, look out for drowning people. If you see someone in need, help however you can. You don't have to be the answer, but you can point them to THE answer, Jesus. Invite them to join you at church this weekend.
Pray
God, because of You, I don't have to live my life constantly treading water and muscling my way through. Thank YOU! I want to be a part of your Rescue Team. Give me the courage to respond when someone is in need of rescuing. Amen.
