The Process of Progress

Read

Psalm 103:13 (TLB),  "He is like a father to us, tender and sympathetic to those who reverence him."

Think

"There is power in God's process!" When we think about the dysfunction in our lives, it can often lead to fatigue and frustration. We are fatigued, because we've tried to change on our own but can't; we wear ourselves out trying to do something we were never designed to do. The frustration comes in when we don't see the kind of change we want in the timeframe we want to see it. But God doesn't want us to live worn out and frustrated. He wants us to instead rely on Him and trust! As God continues to work in and through your life to bring about the kind of change He has in mind, remember that it may be a long process. So rather than trying to be perfect (which you aren't), concentrate on the progress that God has allowed you to experience. No one is going to change the dysfunction in their lives overnight. After all, it didn't show up overnight! Be patient with God's process. And remember to focus on the progress rather than aiming for perfection.

Act

Begin to journal throughout your change process. Write down those moments of progress. Then, when you begin to feel frustrated because you aren't seeing as much change as you would like as fast as you would like to see it, refer back to those moments. Remembering those times will help you see that God is indeed at work in your life!

Pray

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your patience. Help me to also have patience as You work in my life. Right now, I surrender to Your process of change. And I look forward to the results that You are going to bring about. In Jesus' name, Amen.
