The Nativity Scene

Read

Luke 2:6-7, "While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them."

Think

The Nativity Scene is one of the most iconic symbols of the Christmas season. It's impossible to go through this time of year and not see at least one or two. Large and small, we find Nativity Scenes everywhere, from mantles to Main Street. Yet, as visible as the Nativity Scene is during the holidays, we often miss the true purpose and power of it in our daily lives-the fact that God's scene can change everything about our own scene! The Nativity Scene is the place and occasion of Christ's birth, and it is the one scene that truly has the power to change our scene. As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus, think about this question: have you allowed the Nativity Scene to change your scene?

Act

Have you truly "seen" the Nativity Scene for what it is, God's covering up of your scene? Take time today to ask God for His perspective in your life so that you can begin to see the Nativity Scene for what it truly is.

Pray

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for this time of year. Thank You for the opportunity to remember and celebrate the birth of Jesus-the centerpiece of every Nativity Scene. Help me to understand this week just how much Your scene can change my scene! In Jesus' name, Amen.
