The Momentum of Wisdom

Read

Matthew 2:12, "And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route."

Think

"They left by another route!" Acquiring God's knowledge is not difficult. Open your Bible and begin reading. However, it's the application of that knowledge that is the key to successful living. Knowledge is the accumulation of information and wisdom is the application of that information into our daily lives. The wise men in Matthew 2 embodied godly wisdom. They were warned by God not to return to Herod, but to take a different route home. They could have easily disregarded God's warning. They had no idea of Herod's plans to kill Jesus. Returning to Herod with news of this special child would have made them celebrities. But the wise men listened to God and acted accordingly. They lived to see another day! Success is found when we act on what we know to be true. The more we act on God's truth the more success we see in our lives. With success comes forward motion, the momentum of wisdom. We start growing in our faith and our walk with God. Like the wise men, we hear God's truth and act. The result is God's success!

Act

What do you know to be true from the word of God, but have yet to apply to your life? Take this moment to write down those truths and resolve to act on what you know today!

Pray

God, continue to give me more of your wisdom. And thank you that, in Christ, I have the ability to act on that truth. I choose this day to put into practice what I know is true. Amen.
