Read

James 3:13, "Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom."

Think

"Humility is power under control." Americans and political figures from around the world united recently to honor and celebrate the life of George H.W. Bush, a great man whose faith in Jesus was his number one driving force. Bush approached his presidency as a chance to serve others with the hope of making the world a better place. This ability to put self aside and willingly humble oneself is a great mark of godly wisdom. Bush wisely understood that to whomever much is given, much is expected and the only way to manage great responsibility is with humility and grace. Those throughout history who have left a positive mark on the world display this same reverence for God. Are you applying this principle to your life? Most of us will never hold a powerful public office, but we all have a sphere of influence. We, too, can make a difference if we humble ourselves before God and look for opportunities to serve others.

Act

Today, find a way to put self aside and perform a random of act of kindness.

Pray

Dear Lord, open my eyes to see opportunities to serve others and place in my heart a willingness to perform random acts of kindness. In Jesus' name, Amen.
