Think
"Love is a verb." Have you ever taken a science class that included a laboratory? Known as "labs," these short and intense classes are all about the practical application of principles, concepts, and theories. They are designed to put into practice the lessons taught by the teacher. It is in the lab that students really begin to understand what they have been taught. Life is the laboratory for Jesus' teaching. He knows that unless we apply what we have learned, then nothing in our life has really changed, and we don't truly understand. One of Jesus' classic tactics is to push man beyond merely "knowing," in order to get us to understand our need for a Savior. The story of the good Samaritan is all about that! It is about pushing us beyond a knowledge of love and challenging us to actually do it. If you are a Christ follower, you have a responsibility to show love to everyone around you. Don't fall into the trap of believing God's love is reserved for a certain few. Rather, extend God's love to everyone you meet. And live out the love of God in the laboratory of life!
Act
Remember: love is a verb, an action word. Today, extend God's love to someone around you in an unexpected way. Perform a random act of kindness for a complete stranger. Then, when they ask why, simply let them know that you are reflecting God's love to them!
Pray
Dear heavenly Father, I know that You have taught me all about love and that You have demonstrated it for me. Help me to apply the lessons by extending love to everyone around me. Give me Your perspective and Your sight to see those around me who need Your love the most. In Jesus' name, Amen.
