The Creative Canvas

Read

Song of Solomon 8:6-7, "Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm. For love is as strong as death, its jealousy as enduring as the grave. Love flashes like fire, the brightest kind of flame. Many waters cannot quench love, nor can rivers drown it. If a man tried to buy love with all his wealth, his offer would be utterly scorned."

Think

One of the coolest things about painting is starting on a blank canvas! You get to choose what is applied and where. You get to decide on each color, each stroke. You determine the final image for the world to see and enjoy. You are the master of the canvas. And each canvas is a unique work of art specific to the designer. Marriage, in many ways, is very similar. It starts with a blank canvas and, year after year, we add our unique creative touch. We are all creative geniuses with something to offer our spouse! Today's reading describes love as a fire that the force of many waters can't quench; a force of God-given love within you designed to bless your spouse within this creative canvas of marriage! When was the last time you expressed your love to your spouse with a touch of creativity? Whether you are engaged, newly married, or have been married for several decades, it's time to rinse off the paintbrush, choose a color, and add something NEW and CREATIVE to the canvas of your relationship! Do it TODAY because YOU are a creative genius!

Act

YOU are the master of the canvas, and it's time to add some more paint! How can you creatively express your love today to your spouse? Maybe place a handwritten note by the coffee maker or share an intimate hug with an affirming word of love and adoration. It doesn't have to be a huge work of art; it just needs to be something your spouse will appreciate and enjoy!

Pray

Father, Thank You for my spouse! Today, help me to activate the creativity within me and express my love for my spouse in a unique and effective way. In Jesus' name, Amen!
