Sushi-Size

Read

Matthew 6:34, "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Think

"Worry doesn't rob tomorrow of its sorrow, it robs today of its strength."

Life is busy, and our schedules are constantly full. Worry sets in when we can't seem to get everything done and today's troubles spill over into tomorrow, next week, next month, or next year. But a life of worry is not the life God intended for us. Instead, he wants us to remain focused on what he has for us right here and now.

Does this mean we shouldn't plan for the future? No. It simply means we should take each day in sushi-size chunks. How do we do this? Be intentional in carving out time to spend with God. Focus on the important, not the urgent. Accomplish one goal at a time and pray continuously throughout the day.

God is always faithful. If he took care of us yesterday, and he's providing for us today, we can have faith that he will do the same tomorrow. So, don't waste time worrying about tomorrow. Instead, focus on what God wants you to do today, and do it one step at a time!

Act

A great way to set up each day for success is to take it in sushi-size chunks. Make a list of the things you can tackle today. And the first thing on your list should be starting every day by spending time with God in these devotionals! We also have some exciting new talks from Pastor Ed coming this fall that will prepare you for the next season of your life!

Pray

God, thank you for your power and provision in my life. Help me to seek you first in everything I do and to focus on the significant over the superfluous. And help me to trust you with my tomorrows. In Christ's name, Amen.
